Theme parks offer boundless levels of fun.Funpark Friends dispenses with the queues and the vomit inducing rides as it’s a free game that allows players to run their own theme park.Building a theme park in Funpark Friends is fun though, albeit a little slow at gaining momentum.There’s a varied selection of rides, shops, carnival games and decorations to place around the arena.Each costs a mixture of money and time to complete.As is frequently the way with freemium titles, waiting can be circumvented by using up stardust which is gradually provided by the game but much quicker to attain by using in-app purchases.Time is most definitely money here.A series of tasks are also on offer to provide some form of structure to proceedings.These tend to be the likes of ‘build x number of carnival games’ or a set number of decorations.Perhaps not the most inspired of tasks but sufficient to motivate players into growing their theme park ever more.These tasks also boost players’ experience levels which in turn unlocks new bits and pieces to build for the park.It’s all a trickle effect that ensures that players will return to their creation.

Honestly, who didn’t love making spin art as a kid? It’s so simple:Put a piece of paper on a turntable, spin in around, and splatter paint on it.Now developer Brian Smith has brought one of the favorite childhood activities to the iPhone with SpinArt, which offers all the fun of the original, but none of the messy paint or frustration of cutting the perfectly sized paper squares to fit on the spinner.You start with a blank canvas in your choice of colors or photo from your iPhone library, with six control buttons and an extensive color palette.Select the spin button and move your finger in a circle on the screen to get things going.Then select from one of three thicknesses of paint splatter, pick a color, and touch the screen.Repeat until you’re done.Select the glitter button to add a little shine to your artwork.When you’re finished, you can save the picture to your library, or join the SpinArt group on Flickr to show off your skills.There are three actions that one can choose from.The first is draw.This button, located on the top left-hand corner of the action palate is indicated by a collage of color. If clicked on, then you are free to choose one of the three different sized brushes by which you can draw.The stroke of the brush ends up looking like a splat of paint on the canvas.The second option is the Spin affect.The button is self explanatory with a picture of a spinning canvas and circular arrows.Chose this option and then using your figure, spin the canvas as fast or slow as you want it to go.The last option is the Settings button indicated by a star icon.When you click on the star a menu pops up giving you the options of a new canvas, saving the photo onto your iPhone or iPod, joining Flickr, or receiving more information about SpinArt.This is an app that’s not only fun for adults, but for their kids as well.

Who doesn’t love a good mystery?In The Secret of Chateau de Moreau, players take on the role of Antoine,whose wealthy foster father has passed away under mysterious circumstances and left all of his wealth to Antoine.In order to claim his inheritance,Antoine also has to clear his name—and this is where the detective work comes in.To solve the murder mystery, players have to question other characters, solve puzzles, and search for clues.It’s a very well-designed game and well put-together.Mystery fans should really enjoy this charming app.The Secret of Chateau de Moreau comes with killer pencil art graphics,an endless array of puzzles,and a story thick enough to choke on.There’s three different types of gameplay.Sometimes you walk your character around a floor-map of the Chateau, searching rooms for objects, using objects or presenting them to people.During your investigations you’ll uncover topics of interest,which are recorded as clues.Once a clue is revealed, you can question the various characters about it and use objects to resolve that clue.The second type of play is when you present your evidence, at the appropriate times, to solve the mystery.It’s this part of the game which is most like Phoenix Wright.If you don’t respond to the situation correctly, you might fail to prove your innocence.You’re given five candles (lives), which extinguish each time you make a mistake.There’s 40 alternate endings, which are presented in this game like achievements.So, in addition to completing the story, you can also try to reveal the other 39 endings.The third type of gameplay involves puzzles to solve, such as opening an object, entering a code, or putting things in the right position.The developers advise there are over 100 puzzles, so I’ll take their word on that.The developers have done a bang-up job optimizing The Secret of Chateau de Moreau’s interface for the iPhone.All the necessary controls are only a click away, and the inventory makes managing collected items a cinch.The art style itself is brilliant, with a pencil-and-manga motif that compliments the creepy atmosphere of the game to the letter.The sound and the graphic of the game are well coordinated with the theme of the game and you will have a great mystery effect while playing it.

Right now one company stands above the rest when it comes to creating fun and engaging apps for children that are not geared towards learning to write, read, or other educational type things, but instead, towards fun.The company is Toca Boca.They’ve created this great line of apps that include Doctor, Tea Party, Paint My Wings, Helicopter Taxi, Robot Lab, and now Hair Salon.Toca Hair Salon is yet another wonderful, creative, and quirky app from the developers at Toca Boca.This universal app allows one to cut, style, and color the hair of one of four available models.Toca Hair Salon allows players to create any and all styles of hair they can dream of.It basically allows children to turn the iPhone into their own hair salon, with cutting, combing, shaving, blow drying, and even coloring hair for some interesting characters.While kids style and work on the character of choice each has reactions to what is being done.Some funny, others of delight, and some of displeasure.When kids are done, they can snap a photo and save it to the camera roll, a great feature for kids.The interface is very easy and child-friendly here, as one enters a retro-styled barber shop, complete with spinning red-and-white pole out front. When inside, tap one of four customers waiting for service. These clients are certainly interesting-looking, two of whom are more bear- or lion-looking than human and they will make sounds, either positive or negative, giving feedback as you are doing their hair, details that add character and whimsy.Once a model is selected, the fun beings. First, notice that subtle movements of one’s device change the perspective as one looks past the client and at the salon used in the background, even looking through the glass windows and onto the street, all of which give a nice 3D feel to the experience.There are so many details such as the patterned wallpaper and chair used for waiting,mail coming through the slot in the door and noises from the street.The door even has a bell on top, heard when someone enters the salon.To start styling, scroll through the available tools at the bottom of the screen, giving the options to comb, cut, blow, buzz, or dye the hair of the client.This app is so amazing that even parents and grown ups use it.If you have young kids and are looking for a great iPhone app to let them have a blast with, check out Hair Salon, and while you’re at it, take a look at their other apps, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
